Online Gambling opposed by Sheldon Adelson
According to reports one of the worlds richest casino executives is opposed to online gambling legislation as according to him, the technology to ensure that underage gambling is not in place as of yet.
Mr. Adelson is the Chairman and CEO of the Las Vegas Sands Corporation has stated that this is a personal stance and not one that reflects the Las Vegas Sands Corp. This comes against the backdrop of other major US Gambling companies scrambling to prepare for the day that legislation is in place.
Caesars Entertainment Corp is far down the line in preparation for legalization. They already have a web presence with a variety of gambling games available to consumers in the United Kingdom. Their first product was Caesars Bingo and they followed up this popular offering with an online version of Caesars Casino.
In addition large land based suppliers of gambling games to Casinos are already making their games available to online gamblers. Both IGT and WMS are already supplying major online gambling brands with online versions of popular land based games and indeed in the case of WMS already has a online gambling venue.
The team at Gambling Games certainly understand Mr. Adelsons point of view but the question needs to be asked, would it not be better for further regulation and legislation to take place than to simply allow rogue operators to be able to take the same bets from underage gamblers?. Surely there would be more checks in place to prevent under age gambling if regulation was in place.
